Well, a different kind of action, but maybe still something to spook a physicist. Far from scientific, but hopefully still interesting for a scientific mind. Comments enabled and welcome.

I tried an experiment of Dr. Emoto described here. A risible telekinesis experiment, one about affecting the outcome of rice sitting in water (over a period of weeks). I tried variations of the experiment seven times with differing outcomes. Nothing I present has been cherry picked. The question is whether or not there is any correlation. What do you think?

First experiment

I took three jars, identically filled half way with uncooked white rice and covered with spring water. I marked each one with a sticky note and some words. Setup pictures left, above, and below.

For the next two weeks I did a routine once each day for a few minutes. I focused on the left jar labelled “love, gratitude” and I tried to “send” those feelings to the jar. I did similarly for the right jar labelled “idiot, hate.” The middle jar I ignored as if it wasn’t there.

I never moved the jars, and they always sat within inches of each other, while I stood a couple feet back.

Outcomes after two weeks shown below:

Second experiment

I was surprised enough by the first experiment I wanted to see if I could get a similar effect again. For a quick experiment, no photos taken this time, I filled only two jars this time with white flour and water. I associated positive and negative thoughts with them. No idea if I’d call the outcomes “fermentation,” “spoilage,” or some other kind of breakdown, but the result was that this process occurred for both jars but at different rates.

About a week after setup, the jar with which I associated negative thoughts began showing breakdown that continued over the next week. The jar with which I associated positive thoughts did the same, but began and continued 2 to 3 days behind the other jar.

These metrics are so approximate that this experimental outcome is probably worth no interpretation. I mention it anyway, otherwise I’d be cherry picking the other experiments I present.

Third experiment

I had a friend on the other side of the world setup two paper cups (not jars this time) with rice (again white and uncooked) and water. One was labelled “beautiful” and the other “ugly” (in Chinese). I told my friend this was an experiment, but didn’t share any other details until observing the outcomes several weeks later.
